The show today has been unbelievably successful. Not only
did we get to open for a band that has 67,000 fans on Facebook, but the venue
was so efficient that we were off the stage by 8 P.M.! It was Yes-Yes’s first
time wearing a kimono on stage, and you would’ve never guessed how nervous he
was, the way he was gallivanting around onstage. He even summed up the courage
to ask the audience, “Do you like my robe?” Nobody responded, but the crowd’s
energy was so low that it went unnoticed.
We are thankful to have been able to play at this show. The
sound quality was high. Ghost Town killed it. As far as personal experiences
are concerned, I went to the independently owned supermarket across the street
and was ordered to surrender my bag to a fierce, independent security guard. I
bought: potato salad, forks, and Munchies. Yes-Yes bought a hunk of watermelon because
he can’t have salt anymore – only sweet – and discovered it was difficult to
eat. Sensing his frustration as he sat on the sidewalk, legs open wide, picking
his fruit with his purple fingers, I offered him a fork. He seemed pleased, and
it seemed to really help him eat.
Yes-Yes also got chatted to by a gaggle of scenesters. He
claims to have stared at them blankly, and I believe him. Kid Gone Crazy hasn’t been very crazy
yet, but he did suggest going to a diner, only to retract this suggestion
vehemently an hour later. Timothy Timebomb, our merchandise fanboy junkie, had
some extra time to sort the bands’ t-shirts. We were not paid for our
performance tonight. We begin tonight to trek toward another state, lost in our
minds. I think this is going to be an all-night drive, but it doesn’t matter!
Oh, gotta go – the open road is screaming, "Whiz! Come! It's time!"
